Review: Adobomart : An Online Filipino Grocery Store in Singapore

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

When you work overseas, homesickness is one of the hardest challenge you'll ever have to conquer. There are some things that makes it bearable -- the TFC channel, a kababayan you work with, a Skype call from our families or even Facebook updates from friends back home. Apart from Filipino company, we all miss that distinct Filipino taste in our food. From the simplest merienda (snack) to that grand fiesta food we all yearn for.

A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a new online grocery store that carries Philippine branded groceries. I give you Adobomart! It is cleverly named after a famous dish of the Filipinos - Adobo. That alone makes the temptation of online shopping difficult to resist. And once you're in, it's hard to leave empty handed.

This new online grocery store was created by a group of Filipinos who live and work in Singapore. Adobomart was conceptualized with the overseas Filipino worker and migrant in mind.

I love how they made it a virtual online store -- www.adobomart.com! Working in a fast paced city is always a challenge. One can easily get drained mentally, emotionally and physically. More often than not, we find ourselves rushing home wanting to crawl back to our own beds. There are some Filipino stores in some areas, but are sometimes hard to reach. Although Lucky Plaza is easily reachable as it is in the center of the city, the crowd and high transportation costs will make one think a thousand times before really going there.

Thus, this virtual grocery store concept of Adobomart is perfect! What more, Adobomart offers free delivery to their registered users!

It isn't as big as your local Fairprice or Giants, but Adobomart has popular groceries Filipinos miss the most. I myself loved that they have the Purefoods Hotdogs. Brings back a lot of childhood memories! The products are priced competitively, and to think that Adobomart delivers for free, you'll save more energy and more money!
My housemates haul.
My cousin tried it too!
I won  pack of groceries because I was their 100th customer!

The owners are super friendly and their ordering system is superb!
They accept cards, Paypal and even cash on delivery.!
Their delivery timing is faster than any online shopping I've ever tried.
If you order early enough, like around 10AM, they can deliver the same day!

Pros:
1. Easy to use website.
2. Easy payment system.
3. Free delivery with no minimum purchase.
4. Offers same day delivery (with conditions)

Cons:
1. Fewer options at this stage. But I can see them adding new products in their inventory every month!

They may not have everything yet, but they have enough for me to keep coming back.

xoxo,

~d

PS This is not a paid post. I was ready to pay the groceries when the two cute boys of Adobomart screamed "Congratulations! You are our 100th customer! You get these for free!" 😎
Thank you Lord for your blessings!
