We chanced upon a Mini Food and Wine Fair
featuring A Taste of New Zealand
held at the Plaza Singapura Mall by Cold Storage last week.
And oh boy! were we in for a treat!
Cold Storage has always been our go-to grocery store for imported grocery items.
This was one of the only 2 stores that carried Mr. B's old soda addiction - the Dr. Pepper.
We were so happy to chance upon their mini food and wine fair in Plaza Singapura.
To our delight, they featured A Taste of New Zealand,
one of the countries in our bucket list.
There was enough food tasting going on.
We tried the home made jams, coffee and Apple Cider Vinegar.
The Apple Cider Vinegar was an organic naturally fermented vinegar.
If you know me well, you know how much I love to dip my fruits
-- green mangoes, guavas etc ---on vinegar dips.
I was told about the benefits of drinking or including Apple Cider Vinegar in our meals.
Apart from the health benefits, I just really love the taste.
We have been using the organic Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar,
but after tasting this, it looks like we are switching!
This Apple Cider Vinegar is so smooth you can taste the apple flavour.
Unlike Braggs, this does not taste acidic.
They even had someone cooking strips of venison, which we have never tried before.
The taste was similar to beef.
Mr. B is not very fond of beef but he liked this enough to buy it.
I believe this was around $15.90 |
I could not contain my excitement when I saw one of my favorite peanut butter brand.
I wrote about it years ago when I opened this blog and had a few people reaching out.
I wasn't able to take a photo of the booth but we sure did try a their taste tests and bought some!
It still came with 2 variants, the smooth and crunchy one.
You really really really should try it!
By the time I publish this, we would have finished the peanut butter already.
The marketing manager even said, if we were to visit New Zealand,
we can drop by the factory and they can conduct a free tour of the area.
Sounds like fun! Now I can't wait to finally visit the country!
Visit Pic's Peanut Butter website and read about their humble beginnings and amazing story!
Mr. B's addiction to coffee is like a moth to a flame. He cannot resist.
The mini fair featured coffee taste testing for Jed's Coffee.
It was intriguing to see different numbers of 1-5 in their coffee selections.
They were offering number 1 and number 3 for taste testing.
They could not let us taste number 4 and number 5 after 6:00PM due to it's strong roast.
The fifth one, we were told, is not for the faint of heart.
Naturally, Mr. B tried number 3 and found it pleasant.
But of course, he was intrigued by numbers 4 and 5.
They didn't have number 5 anymore so he settled for the next best, number 4.
They didn't have number 5 anymore so he settled for the next best, number 4.
The booth auntie cautioned not to put too much, a half a teaspoon for a cup will do.
When Mr. B finally tried it, he says that it was bland, so he added another full teaspoon.
Mr. B can drink a quad shot Venti Cafe Americano, so the teaspoon of Jed's coffee was nowhere near his strong taste. Maybe we'll try number 5 next time.
The last we tasted was Orchard Thieves Flavoured Ciders.
Mr. B and I loved the Peach and Passion Fruit Flavors.
The best thing about it? It's Gluten Free.
The evident aroma of the crisp apple from the time you open the bottle to your first sip,
ahhhh satisfaction!
I love going to food and wine fairs. It gives us a glimpse of what it's like in that country.
Since we have yet to visit the stunning landscapes
and majestic mountains of New Zealand,
this food fairs will keep us inspired until we set foot in its beautiful country.
Here's to hoping they do a Japanese food fair next 😜!
xoxo, and see you soon NZ!
