5 Lessons: Growing Up With Parents Overseas

Tuesday, June 7, 2016

I am a middle child.
Eldest daughter.
I have a brother who is one year older than me.
We are blessed with fraternal twin siblings who are a year younger than me.

My mother had to make a tough decision to work overseas when I was 8 years old,
to help with the family finances.

This is when the roller coaster of an adventure began.

With no parent by our side, everyone was worried how we'd turned out.
We're nowhere near perfect now, but we sure did make it through.
And here are the things we've learned from our journey that still benefits us to this day.

Top 10 Travel Bucket List

Friday, June 3, 2016

One of the best advises I have received about achieving goals,
is to write down things you want to accomplish.
This helps you visualize your goals into reality.
Everyone (that I know of) has their own travel bucket list,
so heck, I'm jumping in the wagon!
It's been quite awhile since we've travelled.
So I thought, I'd create this list to jumpstart the adventure.
Sharing with you our (yes, always as a couple 😍), Top 10 Travel Bucket List.

How We Survived a Long Distance Relationship

Monday, May 30, 2016

Every story has a unique recipe. From the 'you-and-me against the world' to the 'love-at-first-sight'. Each one with its own twist, but always a story to behold. At some point in our lives, we've watched and been captivated by plenty of fictional romantic movies. Who can forget our very own 'Popoy and Basha' and oh 'Noah and Allie'! This romantic movies not only tell great love stories, it also shows the hardships two people have to go through. BUT, for me, real life love stories, are far better than those movies.

Here is a part of our story that I love sharing.
This is how we conquered the dreaded long distance relationship.

Part 2: Bag Suppliers for an Online Business (Philippines)

I am a self confessed online shopping addict
(I can see my husband grinning and rolling his eyes at this confession--
for him, this is probably an understatement hahaha).
Luckily, I have a sister who helps me justify guilty purchases,
and I do the same for her---sisterhood at its best!!! 👯
While I am addicted to shoes, she is obsessed with bags.
She doesn't necessarily go for branded and expensive bags.
A classic, pretty functional piece will please the retail urge.
And this addiction lead us to our next supplier.

I have received a lot of great comments from Part 1 of this post. Thank you!
This next review is, as promised,
for another bag company we have worked with.
If you're still on a hunt for more suppliers for your online shop, keep reading!

L.A. Girl Pro Prep HD Primer Review

Saturday, May 28, 2016

I am currently on a hunt, for the most suitable skin smoothing face primer for myself. I need something that can fill the pores and lines to prevent caking and make my foundation last longer.

Today I got myself the L.A. Girl PRO Prep HD (high definition) Smoothing Face Primer.
I got this from a local department store here in Singapore called John Little
during their weekend sale.

Part 1: Bag Suppliers for an Online Business (Philippines)

Friday, May 27, 2016

Researching for suppliers takes up a chunk of time in starting up a business from scratch.
While some have been blessed with connections,
the rest of us, who are all new at this are simply overwhelmed.
Luckily for us, the internet has become so vast, that a lot of information are within our grasp.
All it takes is some (or a lot of) keyboard punching, loads of coffee
and maybe some sleepless  nights of researching.
And then lo and behold -- you come across a post, just like this!
Your patience has paid off...or at least it's starting to😉!
If you're looking for tried and tested bag manufacturers, then read on!
I will share one of my tested bag manufacturers or wholesalers
and give you some reviews as well.
Another one will be for another post, so watch out for part 2.

Tips On Starting Your Online Business (Philippines)

I have always dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur.

Last year I decided to test the online business craze...and it was overwhelmingly crazy!
I've been getting a lot of inquiries about how I started it.
Here, I share with you how I did it all from scratch!

5 THINGS THAT PREPARED ME FOR MY SINGAPORE JOURNEY

I am a product of parents who are overseas Filipino workers.
But I have never envisioned nor did I ever dare dream to work overseas.
I lacked confidence and didn't believe that a foreign based company would hire a non bachelor graduate whose work background consists of being a cashier in a small DIY shop
and a saleslady in a small time cellphone shop.

And then one day, I was hired by then, the biggest call center in the Philippines.
This is where my Singapore dream started.

My first call center job was with Etelecare in Makati. 2006

Review: Adobomart : An Online Filipino Grocery Store in Singapore

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

When you work overseas, homesickness is one of the hardest challenge you'll ever have to conquer. There are some things that makes it bearable -- the TFC channel, a kababayan you work with, a Skype call from our families or even Facebook updates from friends back home. Apart from Filipino company, we all miss that distinct Filipino taste in our food. From the simplest merienda (snack) to that grand fiesta food we all yearn for.

A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a new online grocery store that carries Philippine branded groceries. I give you Adobomart! It is cleverly named after a famous dish of the Filipinos - Adobo. That alone makes the temptation of online shopping difficult to resist. And once you're in, it's hard to leave empty handed.

Me Now Kissproof Soft Lipsticks

Saturday, May 21, 2016

So today, I finally gave in to this new lipstick trend from Menow called Kissproof. There's been a lot of rave and great reviews and I thought why not give it a try!

I bought this from a Carousell Reseller at just $2! Other resellers are selling up to S$4.50. Sweet steal indeed!

What it promises: Kissproof, rich, creamy, long wearing, powdery matte and soft lipstick that helps lift and hydrate lips. Here's how packaging looks like:

Review: NYX Tinted Brow Mascara

Sunday, May 15, 2016

A girls eyebrows can make or break your look. Today we are reviewing NYX Tinted Brow Mascara.

NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Chocolate.

Review: Nyx Sculpt and Highlight (Contouring Cream)

For years, I have used make up on a daily basis.
When I moved to Singapore, I started to have breakouts as part of the adaptation process.
So I stopped using make up as a whole.
I had to restart cleaning my face.
A year ago, my face started to clear up, it doesn't look as nice as before, but is better.
This year, I started to wear make up again.
